Four weeks later Kratom-Kratom reached the island of Phuket. Phuket had long been a trading post for Arabian slavers, and the people of Phuket knew black slaves and treated him with despise.

So Kratom-Kratom took his Malay Kratom, and his fierce drumming taught the people of Phuket some respect. Soon they were willing to trade his supply of Malay Kratom for their own Kratom, which they called Maeng Da. Maeng Da meant cockroach in their language, which was puzzling for Kratom-Kratom - because Maeng Da was what the people of Phuket has called him at first because they considered him as dirty as a cockroach. So now everybody giggled when Kratom-Kratom, the Maeng Da, nibbled Maeng Da, the Kratom.

And then Kratom-Kratom was overcome by a completely new sensation. This stuff was even much stronger than the Bali Kratom! Kratom-Kratom did not even dare to try out what effects his drumming might have now on the people of Phuket. So deep in the night he went to a lonely bay and played just for himself and the fish. And believe it or not - the graceful manta rays were dancing a ballet with the fierce sharks to the rhythms of Kratom-Kratom and his Maeng Da.

And Kratom-Kratom had stayed on Phuket to enjoy the Maeng Da Kratom, had not a wise and far traveled monk told him about a mysterious place far to the north, where there was grown an even more powerful Kratom…
